Newstead Abbey was closed on Sunday 3rd December due to adverse weather conditions. If you had pre-booked you will be able to come along another day when Newstead Abbey & Gardens are open or receive a refund.

If you booked Narnia at Newstead House Admission on Sunday, you can simply bring your ticket and we will honour it on an alternative day. If you instead booked a House Tour, Afternoon Tea or Christmas Dinner, please email us to newstead.abbey@nottinghamcity.gov.uk we will be able to confirm your booking for an alternative day. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The Webb family’s Victorian Christmas

In this session:

  • Travel back in time to Newstead Abbey, the Victorian home of the Webb family and characters taken from the census in 1871
  • Pupils dress as children of the estate workers permitted into the ‘big house’ to watch preparations for Christmas.
  • A day of roleplay, experiencing the wonders of a grand country house with sessions including ‘herb bag’ making in the Victorian kitchen, Parlour games in the Great Hall, the ‘Magic Lantern’ show and looking at the rooms the children lived in and the toys they would have played with, in the Nursery attics.

Duration: 10am – 2.30pm
